Our Story Gets Told: Good Life Golf Featured in SD Voyager Magazine

When I started Good Life Golf in 2022, I never imagined a San Diego magazine would one day want to tell our story. I was just a kid from Clearwater, Nebraska — a town of 401 people — who fell in love with golf, moved to San Diego, and couldn't find a hat worth wearing past the back nine.
So I made one.
From the Cornfields to the Fairways
I grew up on a farm in the heart of Nebraska. Wide open skies, hard work, and a community where everybody knew everybody. The state motto is "The Good Life" — and growing up there, I understood exactly why.
In 2004, I traded the Midwest plains for the sun-soaked coastline of San Diego. California was everything Nebraska wasn't — beaches, palm trees, year-round golf. But no matter how far I got from home, those Nebraska values never left me: work hard, keep it simple, do things right.
Golf was always the thread that connected both worlds. Whether I was playing in the Sandhills of Western Nebraska or on a course in San Diego, golf was where I felt most at home.
The Hat That Started It All
The idea for Good Life Golf was sparked in 2020 on a golf trip with close friends back in the Sandhills of Nebraska.
Round after round, I kept reaching for a new hat. Brand name, pro shop grab, didn't matter — they all fell apart. A round or two in, they'd lose their shape, soak through with sweat, or end up collecting dust in the back of the closet. As an avid golfer (and, admittedly, a serial hat buyer — much to my wife's dismay), I knew there had to be a better way.
So in 2022, Good Life Golf was born. One mission: build ultra-comfortable, performance-driven headwear made for the course — and for wherever life takes you.
Every detail, from the brand name to the corn-and-golf-club logo, was inspired by the journey. Nebraska roots. San Diego spirit. And a whole lot of passion for the game.
San Diego Voyager Sits Down With Good Life Golf
We were honored when the team at SD Voyager Magazine — one of San Diego's leading publications celebrating local entrepreneurs and inspiring stories — reached out to share the Good Life Golf story with their readers.
